01 Nov The Year Has Grown Old ~ November 2nd – 8th
My November Guest by Robert Frost
“My Sorrow, when she’s here with me,
Thinks these dark days of autumn rain
Are beautiful as days can be;
She loves the bare, the withered tree;
She walks the sodden pasture lane.
Her pleasure will not let me stay. . .”
It is November and it can no longer be ignored that the year has grown old. Its vision of the world grows dimmer every day and the memories of its joys and disappointments may begin to haunt you. The choice to let the year grow old gracefully or to let it sink into sorrow is up to you. The melancholy of the year’s imminent death comes with the feeling that so much has been left undone and so much left unsaid. But unrealized dreams need not stiffen into regret. Rather, let these dreams fall like the leaves from the trees, enriching the soil for next year’s season of optimism and growth.
Monday/Tuesday: Eight of Wands
On Monday, November 2nd, a lot of action occurs! The eight of wands implies the emergence of the rushing force of human will! Mercury will exit Libra and will enter into the turbulent water sign of Scorpio. Having spent two months in Libra, when Mercury changes signs, a bubble will burst in terms of idealistic intellectualism, giving way to a flood of acceptance for the obsessive, neurotic and completely unfair aspects of life. Meanwhile, the Moon in Leo will square Mercury, lending a certain charismatic warmth to your meditations upon power, corruption and lies. Imagine something like the pleasure of reading a book on the JFK Assassination with more interest in the motivation behind the murder than the lack of justice that the incident implies.
Monday and Tuesday also feature a conjunction between Mars and Venus in Virgo, a sexual union of planetary energies that serves to enhance your ability to use both intuitive and rational faculties to interpret the senses. When Venus and Mars are conjunct in Virgo, both the masculine and feminine principles within yourself are merged into one being, meaning you may be able to have much more insight into how to temper some of your obsessions and heal your relationships with your lovers, co-workers, and/or family. Even if this year did not live up to your expectations, this is a great time to settle the score and find some peace of mind.
Wednesday/Thursday: The Ace of Cups
The Ace of Cups is one of the best cards in the deck, for it foretells of emotional fulfillment and a renewal of love. The Moon will be in Virgo in the middle of the week, continuing to illuminate the lessons learned from the Mars/Venus conjunction. There should be a much greater understanding of what is healthy in your life and therefore, what should be nurtured. True love and true passion rise to the surface, while mere affinities and neurotic obsessions will ask to be cleared away. Let the loose ends go and begin to take better care of what is worth keeping. Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116 exquisitely describes the clear-minded truth that will be guiding you during the middle of this week.
“. . . Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken. . .”
With such a lucid philosophy regarding where love really is in your life, it is assured that you will be gifted with a much stronger sense of romance, family, and creative fulfillment.
Friday/Saturday/Sunday: The Three of Pentacles
On Friday, Mercury in Scorpio will trine Neptune in Pisces. This is a day to dive deeply into something that requires imagination and probing intellect: such as, music theory, occult philosophy, or even astrology. Bear in mind that the 3 of Pentacles indicates that whatever you choose to focus upon will be something that is laying down a strong foundation for a long-term cycle of growth. You are establishing something, investing in something, and building something for the future. Remember that your health is by far the most valuable wealth you can possess, from now until the day you die. The Moon, still transiting Virgo will make conjunctions with Jupiter, then Mars and finally Venus. Imagine a lot of powerful and inspiring choices coming your way, all of which are allowing you to steer your life in a direction which cultivates your health as the foundation of joy, leisure, and creativity.
Though weekends are usually associated with letting loose and letting go, expect this weekend to bring an opportunity to gain some kind of expertise or to make some kind of connection that
you really need to move forward. This weekend is about refining the ambiance of your life, which will be made so much easier when Venus enters Libra on Sunday! Libra is one of the signs ruled by Venus, and it is where she is most social, most elegant, and most poised. Use your leisure time and your leisure activities to cultivate a glimmering sense of destiny. At the end of any year, it is time to let your soul dance in the firelight, brightened by the dream of eternal summer and burning with the desire for miracles.
