Mad Things Rearrange ~ March 14th -20th, 2016

“. . . Seasons change, mad things rearrange

But it all stays the same like the love Doctor Strange…”

 – Lauryn Hill,  How Many Mics

by The Fugees

This week is the last week of winter. It is still most notably characterized by the stellium of planets in Pisces, but the Sun will be transitioning into Aries on Sunday…seasons change…mad things rearrange. The whole week will play out rather theatrically, offering you insight into your impulses towards both destruction and intimacy… conquest and reciprocity.

The Moon, now waxing after the Solar Eclipse, will usher in an escalating urge to take action: to touch, taste and see everything, experimenting with the grammar of your desires. The rising spirit of Aries, the fire of springtime, will surely be felt slowly coming into fruition.

It is almost time to stand exultant and warm in the emerging sun, feeling kissed and revivified. For those who have felt lost at sea during Pisces season, this is very good news.

Spring by Alphons Mucha

But the last throes of winter must be endured with patience. The very nature of this time of year is often tense, as the urge to break out of the confines of cold contemplative internal life begins to build. Indeed, there are several planetary squares arising this week, which create dynamics that may cause arguments, conflicts, and poorly executed plans.

“…I get mad frustrated when I rhyme

Thinking of all the kids who try to do this

For all the wrong reasons…”

Aggravation will be percolating this week, building just enough anger/passion/ecstasy in you to meet the dawn of spring with a fiery fistful of renewed energy. What you build that energy up for is entirely up to you…

“. . .I get controversial

Freak your style with no rehearsal

Ooo, contraire mon frere

Don’t you even go there

Me without a mic is like a beat without a snare. . . “

Venus Enthroned by Henrietta Rae, 1902

Remember that your notable experiences, both good and bad, will be transmuted into fuel for this fire by the end of the weekend. (You can sacrifice it all to the springtime!) Expect a quickening of progress and a reignition of your passions!

Monday/Tuesday

“…See my rhymes are the type of fly rhymes

That can only get down with my crew

And if you try to take lines or bite rhymes

We’ll show you how the refugees do… “

-Lauryn Hill, Zealots

On Monday, there are some significant squares between Pisces and Sagittarius. Venus in Pisces will square Mars in Sagittarius, most likely creating sexual tension and evoking a healing crisis regarding past traumas.

Consider where you have been too competitive in your life and where you have been too passive. This square can create an emotional earthquake, but these are the enlivening situations you need to really evolve into a more conscious and balanced person. You must harmonize the masculin et feminin one way or another to really be able to dance through life.

When Venus is in the first decan of Pisces, it is her time to soften your emotional scars, but this square with Mars brings issues to the surface to show you how much healing is really available to you once you humbly ask for it.

The other tense aspect is the square between Mercury in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius, adding a lot of heaviness to your dreams and ideals. It will most likely feel like a step backwards, but so it goes when Saturn adds his weight to any area of your psyche. To better understand the internal shift you will feel, consider the evolution of expression witnessed in Federico Fellini’s films.

Flying scene from “8 1/2” by Federico Fellini, 1963

Fellini’s latter career was devoted to making epic art films that fluidly danced in and out of seductive nocturnal society, fantasy, and surreal experience. They became increasingly decadent and these films are quite evocative of Mercury in Pisces: dreamy reminiscing, musing, and meandering.

However, Fellini began his career as an Italian neorealist, a film movement characterized by stories set amongst the poor and the working class in post-WWII Italy. In direct defiance of Hollywood glamour, these movies were filmed on location and frequently used non-professional actors.

As Mercury squares Saturn and sextiles Pluto in Capricorn, expect to feel some of your dreamy opulence get jerked back into hyperbolic realism, filled with the gritty agonies of indolence and impatience.

“. . .Gaze into the sky and measure planets by parallax.

Check out the retrograde motion, kill the notion

Of biting and recycling and calling it your own creation.

I Feel like Rockwell, “Somebody’s watching me”

I got no privacy whether on land or at sea. . .”

On Tuesday, the First Quarter Moon in Gemini will square the Pisces Sun, leaving you a little emotionally scattered. When your heart aches for more information, but you just can’t yet see anything clearly, there is frustration. The world may still be looking war-torn and abandoned.

As Mercury in Pisces opposes retrograde Jupiter in Virgo, there might also be a feeling of apathy about what important contribution you are currently offering to the world.

“. . .Hypocrite, critic, but deep inside you wish you had the pop hit. It hurts don’t it. . .”

The urge to be of better use will be strong, but with this opposition and so many squares, it is unlikely that a lucid answer will arrive. Remember that the solar eclipse has just passed and that your world has not really rearranged itself yet. But, there is another level of action and inspiration waiting for you on the other side of this confusing time.

Wednesday/Thursday

On Wednesday, Jupiter will be trined Pluto in Capricorn, finally pushing forward your more stable personality traits and rewarding you for your endurance through trying emotional times. Think of the transformation from dreary Neorealism into glittering Cinecittà costume drama!

Scene from “The Leopard” by Luchino Visconti, 1963

This drama really can be expressed on Thursday, as Mercury will conjunct the South Node and Chiron in Pisces. This is a day where you will have more ability to enable others to feel your emotions deeply. There will be magic in what you say and a lot of penetrating conversations will result.

These talks can intimately connect new lovers, reunite old friends, or mend generation gaps between family members. No matter who you communicate with, memories come forth in full technicolor in emboldened hues of joy and regret. This is a day for war stories and to talk about death candidly.

As she cries “Mi amor”

The phantom dies in the opera. . .”

Friday/Saturday Sunday

On Friday, Jupiter in Virgo will again square Saturn in Sagittarius. When these squares occur, you will be forced to observe the clash between generations and ideological extremism. Respond with as much strength and wisdom as you can summon.

“…Behold, as my odes, manifold on your rhymes

Two MC’s can’t occupy the same space at the same time.

It’s against the laws of Physics.

So weep as your sweet dreams break up like Eurythmics…”

-Lauryn Hill, Zealots

Rather than forging empowerment, war merely exposes human frailty and reveals how many psyches are easily shattered. It is essential that you observe how many manifestations of war there really are, from the subtle ones waged through language to the overt ones waged with violence. No matter what manifestation they arrive in, they are born from the same rage and create the same human dynamics.

“…More powerful than gamma rays

My grammar pays,

Like Carlos Santana plays

~*Black Magic Woman*~

So while you fuming, I’m consuming

Mango juice under Polaris,

You’re just embarrassed

Cause it’s your “Last Tango in Paris” …”

Lauryn Hill, Zealots

It is only through empathy that you can develop into a person of higher consciousness, and the more empathy cultivated, the more you will lose the taste for battles and violent causes. What remains is essential and vital work. If you are an artist, it is your duty to express all human emotion to enlighten others. If you are a healer, it is your duty to soothe and comfort those who suffer to lead them to their own recovery.

These squares between Saturn and Jupiter, tend to push your limits and cause you to feel that your whole world and everything that you had ever come to rely on is being threatened. In the last days of Pisces, great compassion can be inspired while at the same time there is a delirious and disoriented energy which brings very little confidence to those who feel afraid.

“…And to the youngin’s who carry gadgets

And kill 6 days a week then on a sabbath.

Violence ain’t necessary, unless you provoke me

Then get buried like the great Mussolini

And for you bitin’ Zealots

Your rap styles are relics

No matter who you damage

You’re still a false prophet…”

– Pras, Zealots

The persistent conjunction between the South Node and Chiron raises many ghosts and provokes them to haunt you. Your challenge will be to face your fears without joining any avenging mobs.

Springtime Awakening by Luc-Olivier Merson

On Sunday the Sun finally moves into Aries, taking its place in its decan of exaltation and ushering in the warmth of springtime! A vernal equinox and a conjunction between Venus and Neptune offer a joyous return to Dionysian celebration of life, love, and fertility! Yes, the mundane world’s problems will still be present, but on this day you can embody the mythopoeic and celebrate life’s sweetest offerings with devotional sincerity.

When Venus and Neptune are conjunct, imagination reigns supreme and there will be a glorious flourishing of all things sensual and ecstatic. Your lust for life will be renewed…sweet like licorice, dangerous like syphilis…

“. . .And I’ll back this with Deuteronomy

Or Leviticus, God made this word

You can’t get with this

Sweet like licorice,

Dangerous like syphillis, yeah. . .”
