27 Nov The Oversoul ~ November 28th-December 4th, 2016
“The soul is the perceiver and revealer of truth. We know the truth when we see it, let skeptic and scoffer say what they choose.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
The week begins with a New Moon in Sagittarius, aligning the solar and lunar energies to produce a tremendous shift in the collective ambiance and mood!
The mutable fire sign of Sagittarius represents the flame that transmutes the putrefied contents of Scorpio’s death into an elixir of enlightenment.
Ruled by Jupiter, planet of wisdom and expansion, it is within the realm of Sagittarius that we encounter our need to explore and expand the horizons of consciousness. This requires faith in the human soul and its immense potential!
As the archer, shoots its arrow straight into the stars, the rigor mortis of Scorpio is finally released. And the night sky is filled with images that tell the story of humanity. They show how the little spark of consciousness that you were born as does indeed survive beyond death.
In Sagittarius, that spark is now a flame that proclaims the soul’s eternity. It is by the light of this wisdom that Sagittarius seeks to know divinity
At such a time, when a New Moon is offering you a chance to birth new conditions in your life, fill your mind and heart with the soaring voice of a great philosopher and poet like Ralph Waldo Emerson!
Emerson lived in a time with just as many social and ideological problems as we face today. But rather than capitulating to status quo Christianity and scientific dogmatism, Emerson and his fellow author Henry David Thoreau, cultivated a spiritual and philosophical movement known as Transcendentalism.
Transcendentalism rejected the primacy of empiricism and sought truth by seeking internal and spiritual principles as the basis for cultivating knowledge and wisdom.
The Transcendental notion is that when a human being “transcended” the mundane world of science, religion, and politics that they could live in communion with what Emerson called the “Oversoul”.
In his essay about the concept of the Oversoul, Emerson said:
“A man is the facade of a temple wherein all wisdom and all good abide. . . . When it breathes through his intellect, it is genius; when it breathes through his will, it is virtue; when it flows through his affection, it is love. . .”
Transcendentalism perceived that every human being was divine by virtue of their ability to connect with the Oversoul. Thus, they rejected all politics of division. Transcendentalists believed every soul was born divine and thus, their philosophies dispelled notions of political and social inequality.
“Of this pure nature every man is at some time sensible. Language cannot paint it with his colors. It is too subtle. It is undefinable, unmeasurable, but we know that it pervades and contains us.”
Because of this foundational understanding of the divine soul in every human being, many Transcendentalists became involved in efforts to reverse these conditions. They fought against slavery. They demanded education and social rights for women. And they prized individual autonomy.
So let this week be filled with the inspiration that has been left to us by this great spiritual ancestor.
Monday/Tuesday: A Stream Whose Source is Hidden
“The philosophy of six thousand years has not searched the chambers and magazines of the soul. In its experiments there has always remained, in the last analysis, a residuum it could not resolve. Man is a stream whose source is hidden.”
On Monday, the Dark Moon moves into Sagittarius. It is under the Dark Moon, in its last moments of waning, where the deepest chambers of the soul do open to us. Use this day to quietly observe and prepare for the coming of a new dawn.
On Tuesday, the New Moon in Sagittarius is born! (Read my detailed article on the New Moon’s meaning and aspects!)
You may smile in the face of all adversity on this day for a new lunation cycle has begun and it is wise to enter it as an optimist. The wisdom of optimism does not arise from blind naivete, but rather from the conscious choice to remain open minded and eternally present.
Optimism allows your vision to flourish. There is no other choice but to adopt this attitude now and apply it all of your desires for the world!
Wednesday/Thursday: No Monopoly of Wisdom
“The learned and the studious of thought have no monopoly of wisdom. Their violence of direction in some degree disqualifies them to think truly. We owe many valuable observations to people who are not very acute or profound, and who say the thing without effort which we want and have long been hunting in vain.”
On Wednesday, the Sun will be squared to Neptune in Pisces which is also conjunct the South Node. The Sun, which always seeks a fixed point of perspective, is quite disoriented by the warbling effect of Neptune and the South Node.
Thus, you may be effected by a lot of misunderstandings and distortions of truth at this time. But aspects with Neptune also bring strange interceptions of mysticism into the mundane world.
Thus, you may be easily drawn into a conversation with the Oversoul and like a gifted poet, you may feel suddenly attuned to a deeper wisdom than what your current education or experience should precede.
Let Wednesday’s beauty be felt without the need for definition: a day that language cannot paint with his colors.
On Thursday, Mars in Aquarius will trine Jupiter in Libra which brings an astounding amount of intellectual spirit to whatever you are currently engaged in! Transcendentalism itself may have been born from a conversation held under such a transit.
This is an aspect that heralds great success! So take a risk and do something important today!
Rather than holding yourself to the huge task of creating a new philosophy of life, you might use the Aquarian innovation and the Libran symmetry to devise some new rules for the game of life! That humble action might lead you to some truly transcendent places.
Friday/Saturday/Sunday: The Influence of the Senses
“The influence of the senses has, in most men, overpowered the mind to the degree that the walls of time and space have come to look real and insurmountable; and to speak with levity of these limits is, in the world, the sign of insanity. Yet, time and space are but inverse measures of the force of the soul.”
On Friday, Mercury will leave its sign of detriment in Sagittarius and enter in Capricorn. Mercury will be in Capricorn for some time as it will be turning retrograde in this sign on December 19th.
But in the meantime, how does the collective intelligence benefit from Mercury’s transit through Capricorn?
Mercury in Capricorn is associated with the mind of a master builder, which comes with many practical abilities, many organizational skills and an orientation towards management and direction.
But in short, Mercury in Capricorn brings situational awareness. This is the key to developing any street smarts, any business acumen, and any hope of using social hierarchies to your benefit. Prepare yourself to attune to higher levels of situational awareness and take note of how much can vastly improve in your life!
Finally, over the weekend, Mars in Aquarius will sextile Saturn in Sagittarius. This will be a great boon to whatever you are creating or projecting into the world with intention right now.
As ruler of Aquarius,Saturn will bolster your determination and offer you the endurance to remain optimistic about your vision. It takes a lot of effort to pull an idea from the ether and into manifest reality, but this weekend is a time when you really might be able to succeed at this!
Remember that Mars and Saturn love and respect hard work. But with Mars in Aquarius, you will have a unique ability to see beyond “the walls of time and space have come to look real and insurmountable”.
At the end of this New Moon week, be inspired by the wisdom that “time and space are but inverse measures of the force of the soul”. Keep this in mind, and you can remain faithfully optimistic about the future.
