03 Mar You Want This, You Need This ~ March 3rd -10th, 2019
This is a significant week of great change, a storm at sea that will crash against the shorelines of your reality. Between Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, Mercury will retrograde in Pisces, the New Moon in Pisces will conjoin Neptune, and Uranus will enter into Taurus where it will remain for the next seven years.
There will be strange psychic and emotional currents, guiding you to flow in new directions. The best strategy is to relax into it and allow yourself to feel whatever you need to feel.
The week begins with the Sun peacefully adrift in the middle of the vast oceans of Pisces: the primal image of the dream world and the collective unconscious. In this realm, every form is as shape-shifting as sand. Every feeling like a wave, rolling up from the deep to crash against the surface of your mind.
The influences this week may seem disorienting and inebriating, like siren calls that lure you deep into sea-caves of memory and imagination. The whole effect will feel tragic, romantic and psychedelic. As new dimensions of awareness begin to open, a faint refrain of radio music might transform into a full orchestral arrangement. And a floating fragrance might carry you back into a lost era of your life.
Catch a wave and take in the sweetness
You want this, you need this
In Pisces, even your deepest longings and sadness will be bathed by the light of beauty.
Piscean wisdom is really about experiencing yourself as a ripple in a vast ocean. With this vision of unified consciousness comes a great surge of love, a light in the darkness.
You lose your way, just take my hand
You’re lost at sea, then I’ll command your boat to me again
Don’t look too far, right where you are, that’s where I am
A song that captures the feeling of this week beautifully is Lana Del Rey’s Mariner’s Apartment Complex, which was released almost exactly six months ago.
It has a melancholy cinematic sound, a lush and sweeping love song with a heart as vast as the ocean. Through whispering lyrics, sweeping strings, and shimmering slides, it enfolds you in the soft mist of a romantic dream.
The feeling of Pisces is evoked by its swirling oceanic imagery. But the song is also an immersion in the cultural memory of pop music, another evocation of Pisces, where all time is eternally present.
The song begins,
You took my sadness out of context
At the Mariners Apartment Complex
I ain’t no candle in the wind
In the last line, Del Rey puts her confident spin on Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind” originally composed for Marilyn Monroe. With these images like pearls on a string, you slip into the collective memory of mythic archetypes, where Monroe symbolizes the beauty and tragedy of the American dream.
‘Cause even in the dark I feel your resistance
You can see my heart burning in the distance
Baby, baby, baby, I’m your man (yeah)
She soothes her lover with the phrase “I’m your man”, a recollection of a song by the recently deceased icon, Leonard Cohen. This is a layer of remembrance that summons deep loss and reverence, for Leonard Cohen was one of the most celebrated poets in music history.
In the more disorienting moments this week, let Del Rey’s voice of strength inspire you to find the light in the dark. In the song, though her heart is open, she reminds the listener that her kindness should not be mistaken for weakness.
You’re lost at sea, then I’ll command your boat to me again
Don’t look too far, right where you are, that’s where I am
Take this opportunity to remember that your kindness is not weakness. During Pisces season, you’re meant to open your heart and feel everything deeply. Knowing the full repertoire of your emotions is not weakness, but a source of immeasurable strength.
The wisdom of Pisces wants you to remember that your heart must break in order to grow. What better time than now, with all these soothing waves to carry you?
Catch a wave and take in the sweetness
…You want this, you need this
Are you ready for it?
Monday/Tuesday: Catch a Wave and Take in the Sweetness
On Tuesday, Mercury will retrograde at the last degree of Pisces, where the language of thought is dreams. In retrograde motion, Mercury will follow all rivers back to the vast ocean, where the mind becomes deep and dissolute.

During this retrograde period(March 5th-28th) you will be especially troubled by the world of statistics, schedules and paperwork. There may be miscommunications and missed appointments. And the subconscious will be especially prone to wriggle into your speech at awkward moments, resulting in Freudian slips and other verbal mishaps.
But you will delight in exploring the fathoms below, discovering lost secrets and treasures of memory that had sunk into the darkness of oblivion.
Mercury retrogrades may bring a fair share of frustrations, but they are beautiful opportunities to allow memory to speak loudly, weaving the threads of past and present together in a new pattern of thought.
The more you allow your mind to retreat, remember and recollect, the more beauty you will experience during this time.
Wednesday/Thursday: Think About it, The Darkness, the Deepness
On Wednesday, a renewed cycle of emotional and creative energies will begin as the New Moon in Pisces conjoins Neptune. Under this influence, dreams will become totally immersive, luring you deep beneath the waves in search of true love, lost kingdoms and eternal life.
As the light of consciousness passes through these glimmering ripples, your days will seem to dissolve into the moving image of eternity, where all time is eternally present.
Your imagination may drown all your other senses, giving you the visionary power to connect to a timeless state of creation. But these waters are also filled with delusions and deliriums.
Though there is something truly precious about getting lost in imagination, when the ghosts of the past begin to haunt you and dreams are used to escape waking life, you are suffering from delusion. Imagination can be used creatively or destructively, like any other power.
I’m the board, the lightning, the thunder
Kind of girl who’s gonna make you wonder
Who you are and who you’ve been
On this same day, electrical Uranus will move into the fixed Earth sign of Taurus, ushering in a new seven-year of period of tremendous evolution and revolution regarding humanity’s relationship to wealth, natural resources, and the value of the earth’s beauty.
As one of the slow moving transpersonal planets, Uranus takes 84 years to circle the entire zodiac. Thus, this period from March 6th, 2019 to April 2026 will be a time for reckoning upon much of what was established and invented over 80 years ago.
This current passage of Uranus through Taurus will be a time for honoring many of the legacies of the last transit as well re-inventing and innovating upon what no longer works in the modern world.
Uranus is a Titanic force of nature, most akin to the effects of electric storms and earthquakes. On an individual basis, the Uranian influence is best observed in sudden paradigm shifts, strokes of genius, and great surges of rebellion. And for the collective, it is upon the axis of Uranus that the march of history abruptly pivots, inspiring humanity to follow a new star all the way towards the future!
Friday/Saturday/Sunday: All the Things that Make Me Who I Am
And who I’ve been is with you on these beaches
Your Venice bitch, your die-hard, your weakness
Maybe I could save you from your sins
The week will close with the waxing Moon conjoining Uranus in Taurus on Sunday. A strange temper is likely to arise, and new a taste for adventure might appear.
Simultaneously, Mars in Taurus will sextile Neptune in Pisces, summoning another wave of intense dreaming. But these waves of imagination and fantasy will find animation in the body.
You may become driven to create something, instead of drifting into sleep. You may finally feel motivated to push against an obstacle that stands in between you and your vision.
This is a particularly good time to combine a spiritual practice with a physical activity. Practices such as qigong or yoga already embody this concept. But anything can be turned into a moving meditation if you choose to allow it.
Let yourself be led by a natural rhythm of calm activity and creative inspiration.
Much Love,
Rachel
