24 Aug Order Out of Chaos ~ Virgo Season – August 23rd-September 22nd, 2019
Virgo season begins like a sweeping melody, awash with exquisite beauty and extravagant melancholy. It is the beginning of the end of summer and with this you are reminded of life’s ephemerality.
The light of Virgo is majestic, an amber glow upon blushing fruit. Each moment feels ripe and heavy with purpose. As your soul embraces the dusk, you feel a calling to use your time more wisely.
Virgo is the Latin name for virgin. Modern sensibilities have destroyed the ancient and sacred purpose of the virgin, explaining why the sign of Virgo remains the most misunderstood sign in the zodiac.
In ancient terms, a virgin was a priestess who embodied the wisdom of the earth. Virgins served as vessels, guiding humanity upon its evolution through an intimate connection to divine order.
In Virgo season you can feel the earth speaking: every subtle vibration in nature, the fractal patterns of creation become distilled into language. In the Virgin’s mind, life gleams with ritualistic significance, every experience like a thread that pulls the whole tapestry together. Seeing how each thread weaves together is her joy. And keeping the threads from tangling into knots is her labor.
As the high priestess of divine order, Virgo oversees the exploration of the mysteries of matter calling for a deeper reverence for the governing rhythms of bloom and decay: ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
The Virgoan gaze is critical by nature, darkened by the responsibility to find flaws, correct mistakes, and diagnose disease. Where her mind goes, the divine order of the earth naturally follows. In Virgo, life becomes a process of purification and refinement.
Virgo Season 2019
This Virgo season of 2019 will delve deeply into the mysteries of matter, back into direct intimacy with nature. With the planets in Virgo aspecting Uranus in Taurus and then Pluto in Capricorn, deep layers of untapped potential will be unearthed.
Expect to evolve your character, integrity and philosophical foundation considerably.
Touched by the transpersonal planets, the Virgoan gaze will see deeply into the dynamic interplay between divine order and primordial chaos: a phenomenon observed in heartbeats, brainwaves, stock prices, and weather patterns.
The season begins with a succession of trines between planets in Virgo and Uranus in Taurus, catalyzing unexpected inspiration and wild arrogance.
Uranus is the planet of primordial chaos, breaking into the mysteries of matter, so lovingly protected by the Virgin. There will be a flood of of pure potential, undirected creative energy to begin working with. You’ll be very busy sorting all this out into viable ideas and offerings.
In late August, the world may look especially cruel and disordered making the shelter of some warm Utopian fantasy seem very appealing. But the deeper vision of this Virgo season will invite you to see through the delusions of utopia.
Nobody knows better than Virgo the dark shadow that lurks beneath the dream of a perfect world. By September this shadow is bound to emerge when the trines to the Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn begin.
By the end of the season you may have experienced a serious wake up call, suddenly snapped out of a delusion that was leading you astray.
Frankenstein: Virgoan Wisdom for the Ages
“My imagination, unbidden, possessed and guided me, gifting the successive images that arose in my mind with a vividness far beyond the usual bound of reverie.”
As inspiration to feel into this wild mixture of earthen energies, I invite you to consider Mary Shelley’s classic novel, Frankenstein. It describes the modern world’s flawed relationship with nature, the shadowy sadism lurking under the obsession with progress.
Born on August 30 1797, Mary Shelley was a Virgo, touched by genius and darkness. Her natal Sun in Virgo was conjunct to the planet Uranus and opposed to Pluto, giving her an unusual depth of focus for journeying into chaos.
When she described the process of writing Frankenstein, she said:
“Invention, it must be humbly admitted, does not consist in creating out of void, but out of chaos…it can give form to dark, shapeless substances, but cannot bring into being the substance itself.”
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is the essence of Virgoan wisdom, distilled from her awareness of the chaos that underlies the patterns of creation. The novel is a philosophically rich and poetic critique of the ideals of her age, examining the weaknesses of the Enlightenment era as well as the subversive ideals of Romanticism.
Frankenstein was written during a time of dramatic social change. Lit up by the Uranian currents of innovation and progress, Enlightenment science was paving the way towards a future where humanity would dominate Nature.
As a Virgo, Mary Shelley’s gift of foresight recognized the dangers of a technology-driven society attempting to dominate rather than live intimately within natural order.
The character of Victor Frankenstein embodies the arrogance of the Enlightenment era. He is a genius without common sense or wisdom. Thus, he believes that the divine spark of life is something to be tapped without consequence, like a stream of sap that bleeds from a tree.
He says:
“I paused, examining and analyzing all the minutiae of causation, as exemplified in the change from life to death, and death to life, until from the midst of this darkness a sudden light broke in upon me – a light so brilliant and wondrous, yet so simple,
The whole novel is an insanely tragic and darkly comedic observation of the hubris of the modern world. And in the last 200 years, Western society has only become further divorced from nature and her processes. Thus, Frankenstein remains philosophically on pointe.
Throughout the pages of Frankenstein, the ancient wisdom of the earth seems to speak, emphasizing that nature is not passive, inert, or dead. As a sentient being, when nature is violated and dishonored, dark forces of destruction are conjured up.
The creature that Dr. Frankenstein brings to life is more sentient, more feeling and more intelligent than his creator. But he is rejected, forced to live a life of suffering and revenge.
The doctor’s response to the birth of his creature is “breathless horror and disgust.”
“I was unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created.”
Abandoned by his creator, the creature pursues Dr. Frankenstein like one of the Furies of Greek drama.
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein offers a wealth of Virgoan wisdom to contemplate this season. Illumined with common sense and the mysteries of antiquity, the story demonstrates nature’s principal of cycles, dynamic flow and balance. There is no straight line of progress into a bright future.
The wisdom of Virgo urges you to honor the principle of balance, acknowledging that external order and progress is impossible when your internal world is disordered. Thus, this season of Virgo is about bringing your inner world back into order, seeking purification, healing, and reconnection to the wisdom of the earth.

Virgo Decan III – September 13th-22nd, 2019
The final days of Virgo always have a melancholic tinge, for it is the death of summer. This causes some agony, for with every summer goes another piece of youth. Behind closed eyes there is a yearning to stop time, to live in an ‘an eternal summer that shall not fade’.
Fortunately, with so much recent evolution and growth, you will likely feel content to accept the coming of a more restful and contemplative season.
On Friday, September 13th, the Sun in Virgo will trine Pluto in Capricorn. This is a day when your responsibilities may feel very intense. The whole season of Virgo has led you to purify and refine your inner world to invite necessary evolution and growth. So when the Sun trines Pluto, you will feel empowered to purge whatever remaining impurities or disease may be compromising your health and wellbeing.
Full Moon in Pisces
On Saturday September 14th Mercury will move into Libra and the Full Moon in Pisces will arrive. This Full Moon is characterized by the element of water in its most oceanic manifestation, as the infinite abyss of swirling creation and destruction.
Every Full Moon represents the moment when the Sun and the Moon are exactly opposed. In the language of light, the reflexive gaze between the Moon in Pisces and the Sun in Virgo will communicate their relationship to one another as priestess and scribe.
The true nature of this Full Moon in Pisces is best defined by the Moon’s conjunction with Neptune, a planetary potion best used for musing and reverie. When the intuitive and emotional Moon passes through the mystical haze of Neptune, a pall of surreality will descend. When the lunar realms of the subconscious become fully illuminated, expect life to take on the ambiance of a waking dream, with evocative symbols and synchronicities all woven together by echoes of remembrance.

On Wednesday, September 18th Saturn in Capricorn will station direct. Saturn’s retrograde began in late-April ushering a period where your commitments and discipline may have seemed more flexible or free to experiment with. Now that Saturn is direct again, you will have to commit to your health and well-being.
On Thursday, September 19th there will be an exact trine between Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn offering a great surge of ambition. Due to Pluto’s dwelling place in the depths of the psyche, you may also become impassioned by a desire to delve deeply into subjects that remains veiled by mystery. If there is a secret that you crave to know this is a good time to begin probing. When heated by the flames of curiosity, Mars in aspect to Pluto will deepen your talents for questioning, research and investigation.
On Saturday, September 21st, 2019 the summer season closes with a square between Jupiter in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. This is the third and final square in a series that began in January.
This will be a great test of your discernment. There is a difference between dreams and delusions, though it is easy for the two to become muddled. At this final Jupiter/Neptune square, you will discover what fantasy and delusions you have been living under. It may be painful to be awakened to this knowledge. But it may also be refreshing and liberating.
Consider the loss to be a worthy sacrifice, inviting the return of effective energy and potent creative power.
Whatever happens, remember that the truth will set you free.
Much love,
Rachel
