… For A Little Peace of Mind ~ November 16th – 22nd

This is the final week of Scorpio season and the time of falling down deep dark emotional wells is not yet over. The overall feeling this week is expressed perfectly through the way that John Lennon once sang, You know I’d give you everything I’ve got for a little peace of mind.” There is thrashing angst and then lilting submission to reality as it is rather than as it should be. With idealism so shaken, pools of sorrow may threaten to drown out the will to love.

Over the weekend, like an archangel on an apocalyptic night, the influence of Sagittarius will displace this primal dread with spiritual liberation. By experiencing some miraculous compassion or profound beauty in the world, inspiration will reawaken. The blinding veils will burn away and a thirst for communion with the divine will enliven an instinctual motion within.

I. Seven of Cups II. The Tower III. The Queen of Wands

Monday/Tuesday – The Seven of Cups

Paramahansa_Yogananda_Standard_PoseIn his book,
Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda says, “The power of unfulfilled desires is the root of all man’s slavery.” This statement perfectly summarizes the themes of the beginning of the week and the meaning of the Seven of Cups. This card describes the experience of having too many desires to make any significant progress towards fulfilling anything. It also reveals how emotional energy can become misdirected into vapid fantasies. Cognitive dissonance and narcissism are the ties that bind us to illusions.

The beginning of this week is a window of opportunity to discover how many of your most precious fantasies are nothing but parasitic delusions. You may feel haunted by some of your recent decisions and actions, but the last throes of Scorpio are meant to be dark and psychologically disturbing. Let the ghosts of the past and the fantasies of the future put on a spectacle, and in doing so, reveal their emptiness to you.

On Tuesday, the Sun in Scorpio will be conjunct Mercury in Scorpio, enlivening mental powers for good and ill. Considering the sign of Scorpio, the beginning of the week will be inflamed by primal desires: sex, death, and money. Remember that secrets are like weapons, able to aid or destroy depending upon intention. Therefore, learn to use the power of secrecy wisely. There will be an equal amount of investigative prowess in your thoughts as there is restlessness and irritation. Lost in an intense head trip, you may discover that certain questions will never have a satisfactory answer. Make peace with this fact.

Wednesday/Thursday: The Tower

On Wednesday, Neptune will station direct in Pisces after being in retrograde since June. Neptune stations are a disorienting experience, best described by words like warbling, tilting, and dizzying. Suffice it to say that after this midweek confusion, there will be a stronger current that will carry aspects of the inner world into the outer world, meaning there may be more fruitful artistic endeavors, magical rituals, or divinatory practices. You might be led by signs and feelings, following all the way to some unforeseen destination or sense of purpose. Though Neptune is associated with dreams and visionary experiences, consider that this shift in energy is as neutral towards your personal ambitions as the changing tides of the ocean. In order to benefit from it, one must have a safe vessel, extensive knowledge of how to travel, and the humility to accept the will of the winds.

This Neptune station is amplifying the square with Saturn in Sagittarius and so the Neptunian images of mystical oceanic voyages are not complete without recollections of a helpless ship lost on the stormy waves. Remember what Odysseus had to learn when he denied Poseidon’s power.

The Tower is a card that illustrates a time when all that was once secure wavers and dissolves. Total groundlessness forces one to fall and all that remains is trust. The Tower is therefore a great spiritual teacher, creating a moment of peril in order to inspire faith and trust and flexibility. Imagine a cat landing on its feet, not just securely but with buoyant grace and in perfect defiance of fear. It is this feline flexibility that the middle of week will teach you.

Friday/ Saturday/Sunday: The Queen of Wands

On Friday, Mercury will enter Sagittarius, lifting the mind towards the light of self-realization and philosophical inquiry. The following words from Yogananda will crystallize into wisdom that you carry within and share with others.

“Forget the past. The vanished lives of all men are dark with many shames. Human conduct is ever unreliable until man is anchored in the Divine. Everything in future will improve if you are making a spiritual effort now.”

This wisdom will be especially useful as Venus in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn, which may create overwrought tension about sex and money in our relationships. Piety and abstinence are not the solution to greed and violence. This is a time to meditate and observe thoughts and feelings carefully, so that actions are not made unconsciously.

anne_of_kievThe Queen of Wands shows that you possess the will to endure the agonies and ecstasies of life with the glistening prowess of a panther. The Moon will be in Aries on Saturday, lending a fresh and igniting desire to clean up, begin again, start-over, and revive. Then on Sunday, the Sun will enter Sagittarius, finally bringing a new bubble of mirth and optimism back into the collective consciousness. With the Sun in Sagittarius, an odyssey of spiritual discovery can begin, one that involves some fun and adventure. What are your BIG questions about life? What do you want to know before you die? This curiosity is the essence of Sagittarius and it will benefit you to explore your own need for consciousness expansion. This weekend, the urge to taste something new in life that offers novelty and invigorates your passion for learning will become overwhelming! Follow that wanderlust! As the Queen of Wands, you stand as a herald of divine consciousness, burning as brightly as the stars.
