26 Aug Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough ~ August 27th-September 2nd, 2018
Lovely is the feelin’ now
It is now the last week in August and the upcoming days should bring a lovely ending to an unusually challenging month. After the cleansing Full Moon in Pisces last Sunday, you can reflect with more clarity on what you’ve been going through.
Most of August was riddled with retrogrades and eclipses, summoning dramatic flair-ups of emotional problems and frustrations. Fortunately, this week begins the return of resolve, motivation, and stability.
The Sun will travel through the first decan of Virgo, bringing a call to untangle whatever knots you may have twisting around your mind.
Using agricultural metaphors, it is the Virgin’s job to sort and separate the wheat from the chaff. Thus, this is the time of year to discard any poisonous or self-negating ideas.
Just love me ’til you don’t know how
Virgo serves to recognize and maintain the divine order of the cosmos. Thus, this season illuminates the sacred patterns of creation. The Sun in Virgo sees how the innate laws of the universe are revealed in geometry, harmonics and proportion. The wisdom of this season is to remember that you were born from divine order and it remains your most natural state.
With such a desire to return to natural order, Virgo season tends to become very busy with work. In the northern hemisphere, this is also harvest time and the beginning of a new school year.
But during the last eight weeks, Mars has been retrograde. In most matters of work, you may feel like you’ve fallen way behind. You are not alone in this.
Since June 26th, the Mars retrograde has been stirring up your deepest internal conflicts. So much trust and integrity was tested. On August 12th, Mars left Aquarius and receded into Capricorn, raising concerns about the abuse of power.
Heartbreak enemy despise
Though this has been an opportunity for intense introspection, your energy and motivation may have been in short supply. Like a ship at sea with no wind to fill its sails, your progress has probably felt slow.
Power (ah power) is the force the vow
That makes it happen
It asks no questions why
But this week, the wind will finally pick up and the slow drag of summertime haze will finally begin to dissipate.
On Monday August 27th, Mars will station direct in the late degrees of Capricorn. This is Mars’ sign of exaltation, making this a very positive shift for martial energies. Now the summer’s eerie stagnation will finally give way to a force of kinetic energy. It should feel really good to get into the flow again.
Keep on with the force don’t stop
Don’t stop ’til you get enough
The other important aspect this week happens later on Monday, when Mercury in Leo squares Jupiter in Scorpio. Adding to the force of momentum, this aspect will bring a sunburst of optimism and faith. Mercury direct in Leo infuses your thoughts with a raw brilliance and Jupiter’s influence will open your eyes and broaden your horizons.
Jupiter is expansive and encouraging. No matter what your goals are at the moment, Jupiterian energies will always remind you to…Keep on with the force don’t stop
Don’t stop ’til you get enough
So this week, you may have a lot of work to get done. But Mars newly direct in such a dignified place along with the Mercury/Jupiter square should inspire you to feel good about life.
Sensation (ah sensation) lovely where we’re at
So let love take us through the hours
As an accompaniment for the energized and uplifted mood of this week, I invite you to listen to the late-great Michael Jackson’s, Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, from his 1979 LP Off the Wall.
So let love take us through the hours
I won’t be complainin’ (no no)
‘Cause your love is alright, alright
Michael Jackson had his Sun in Virgo, born this very week on August 29th, 1958. His celebrity status was really off-the-wall, complicated by madness and scandal. But to get caught up in gossip and rumors misses the joy of his music. And Michael Jackson had so much light to share that he remains one of the most beloved cultural icons of the century.
Off the Wall, produced by the legendary Quincy Jones, is a delightful amalgam of R&B, Disco, and Pop. The first track, Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, is so uplifting, giving you the strength to live in full appreciation of love. Some music is timeless and the lush sounds of the summer of ‘79 will remain alive in this song for many decades to come.
You know, I was
I was wondering, you know
If you could keep on
It begins with his soft stammering, a very shy man looking for the courage to express his unbridled passion.
Because the force…It’s got a lot of power
And it make me feel like
It make me feel like… Whoooh!
In a sudden burst of strength, when Michael finally finds his voice in the “Whoooooo!”, your heart opens in elation.
Keep on with the force don’t stop
Don’t stop ’til you get enough
Because it was the late 70’s, the force he sings of is likely a reference to Star Wars. In that movie, the force was defined as being “an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”
If the force is omnipresent, then you can’t lose touch with it even during a summer of retrogrades and eclipses. In most of the sacred wisdom of the world, the force would be equated with the concept of divine love.
It is not a unique idea, nor is it strictly Western. The texts of the Hermetic tradition, written in Alexandria between the 1st and the 3rd centuries, describe love as a first principle in creation, that the Creator made humanity out of love. Christianity upheld some of this understanding. And again, during the Renaissance, the Classical and Christian world united in Neo-Platonic philosophy.
Here is an excerpt from a Renaissance prayer to Love written by Pietro Bembo in The Book of the Courtier by Baldassare Castiglione.
O most sacred Love…Graciously binding the universe together…You unite the elements in harmony…and move all that is born to the perpetuation of life. You join together the things that are separate…
Knowing how ancient the lineage of thought on the force really is, Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough can be felt as a deeply spiritual song.
Eternal (ah eternal) love shines in my eyes
So let love take us through the hours
This was the first song that Michael Jackson wrote entirely by himself and it went on to become a number one hit as well as earning him a Grammy award. Knowing this success story may inspire you to keep pursuing the development of your own gifts and your talents.
Keep on with the force don’t stop
Don’t stop ’til you get enough
This week, expect an opening to appear where there was none before. If you only allow love to guide you forward, the more expansive and joyous you will feel in connection to the universe. And the more love you feel, the more you will be in harmony with the divine.
‘Cause this is love power
